I wonder, why do we build train tracks, when we could just ride buses everywhere?
Maybe, because in the long run it's a better option to ride a train: buses are cramped, loud, annoying. They feel like a chore.
Trains, on the other hand, feel like a journey. They offer more space, they are more comfortable. They beat the inconvenience of fixed location with the convenience of getting out of your way.
It's only because somebody has already built the track, laid foundation, and created the infrastructure, that we can benefit years to come. Somebody thought what would be the best solution, considered the pros and cons.
Sometimes it pays off in the long run to build foundation and infrastructure first.
