The joy of missing out

I have to admit, there was a time, when I was panically following everything what is happening around me, scared to miss things that might have been interesting, important, critical.

I was trapped in the FOMO, a.k.a. the Fear of Missing Out. I was the victim of the technology, and the available 24/7 mindset it produces. It was a fight I couldn’t win.

At some point I realized, it wasn’t healthy. Life goes on, and I’m not required to be everywhere at the same time. I took a deep breath, and a mental step back: from now on, I will choose what is important for me.

It was a very small transformation at first, being closer to feeling guilty for missing things I would normally attend to. But with time the quality of my life improved, because I had finally time to be present, and 100% focus on what’s around me. And that made all the difference in the world, literally.
