The escalator paradox

There was a study proving that the fastest way of using escalators is to simply stand on them, two people per step.

Yet, there are people who will still disregard that, insisting they alone will be faster walking along the side.

This is a problem of one’s mindset, putting one’s perceived getting ahead as more important than overall good, and collective effectiveness.
